15-day group art show begins at Abinta Gallery
Entertainment Desk: Dhaka, May-23,
A 15-day art exhibition titled ‘Weaving Art of The Hills’ with indigenous people from all over Bangladesh has begun at Abinta Gallery of Fine Arts, Pragati Sarani in the capital.
The inaugural ceremony of the exhibition was held on May 21 on the gallery premises, where Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Shabbir Ahmed Chowdhury, renowned artist Professor Mustafa Monwar, Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Mustafa Osman Turan, and Managing Director of Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited Rupali Chowdhury were present as special guests.
The exhibition was presided by the Chairperson of Abinta Gallery of Fine Arts Nilu Rowshon Murshed. The inaugural ceremony of the exhibition was gathered by the artists and the art lovers who appreciate the artwork and inspire the art and artists through their gestures. A number of 65 artworks by 44 participants are being exhibited in the exhibition. With watercolor, they show the different sights and views of Rangamati.
Artist Kanak Chanpa Chakma’s words the journey of ‘Weaving Art of the Hills’ started with too many obstacles. Indigenous people from various parts of the country had to cross a lot of ways to show their talent to the world. From this thought, the forum ‘Ethnic Artists Forum’ was formed. I wanted to create a platform where indigenous people can share their views and thoughts on art and culture. To encourage the artists, we need to appreciate their work so that they can inspire more in the future. From this forum every year little artists start to express their inner artists.
The exhibition is not only Dhaka-centric rather than it is focusing on all over the country. The ethnic artist Forum started its journey in 2019 with 85 artists. Among them, 50 artists participated in the art camp. The main reason for the camp was to establish the artwork and art form of the indigenous people. I along with Abu Sobhan Welfare, every year arranged scholarships for 13 children so that they can continue to follow their dream without any trouble.
Because of the Covid pandemic, we could not arrange such an exhibition but now with full safety, we started to make them follow their dreams and make an opportunity to show their talent out to the world.
