Three get life-term jail for killing woman in Kushtia

A court here today sentenced three people to life-term imprisonment for killing a woman in Mirpur Upazila of the district in 2012.
Additional District and Session Court-1, Judge Tajul Islam pronounced the verdict this afternoon.
The convicts are Shahabuddin Ahmed alias Manju, 35, son of late Nazrul Islam of Khairpur village of Mirpur Upazila, Helal Uddin, 26, son of Abu Mandal alias Baga Mandal of the same village and Ashraful Alam, 33, son of late
Hasem Ali, a resident of the Mirpur upazila.
The court also fined them Taka 25,000 each, in default, they will have to suffer more one year rigorous imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, the three convicts killed Bristi and dumped her body on the Mirpur-Daulatpur roadside in Chitharia area on 1 July 2012, when she was going to her aunt’s house.
Amin Biswas, father of the victim, filed a murder case against the three with Mirpur police station and police recovered the body from the spot.
On February 2, 2013, police submitted charge sheet accusing 12 persons.
