Namaz-e-janaza of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan, who was elevated to the Appellate Division from the High Court Division of the Supreme Court recently, was held today at Supreme Court premises at 11 am.

Justice Ahasan, who was undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) after getting infected with Covid-19, died at 6.15 am today.

“He will be buried beside the grave of his father at Barisal Muslim Graveyard,” Supreme Court spokesperson Mohammad Saifur Rahman told the media.

Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique, Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim, Attorney General AM Amin Uddin, Judges from both the divisions of the Supreme Court, lawyers, relatives, and well-wishers attended the janaza, among others.

Earlier Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique, Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Secretary Barrister Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal, Justice Ahasan’s only son Tayeem Hasan spoke about his life and work. Later wreaths were placed on his coffin on behalf of the Chief Justice, Attorney General’s Office, and SCBA.

Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan was elevated to the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on January 9, but he could not take the oath as he was undergoing treatment at the hospital.
