4,500 Jamalpur farmers to get incentive for Aush farming

A total of 4,500 small and marginal farmers in all seven upazilas of the district will get incentive for the cultivation of Aus paddy in the current Kharif-1 season.

According to Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources,
the department has started distribution incentive involving Taka 35 lakh 15 thousand on the Aus paddy cultivation.

Under the programme, each farmer will receive five kilogrammes of high yielding variety Aus seed, 20 kilogrammes of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) and 10 kilogrammes of Muriate of potash (MOP) free of cost for cultivating one Bigha of land. The seeds are 2000 kilogrammes of BRRI-82, 14500 kilogrammes of BRRI-48 and 6000 kilogrammes of BINA-19.

The benefited farmers are 1000 in Jamalpur Sadar Upazila, 470 in Sarishabari, 590 in Melandaha, 730 in Islampur, 450 in Madarganj, 680 in Dewanganj and 580 in Bakshiganj Upazila.

Deputy Director (In-charge), the DAE, Zakia Sultana said distribution work of the incentive among farmers already began. The target of Aush cultivation was fixed on 4300 hectares of land with the production target 11715 tonnes of Aush rice this year, she added.
