The election to the Bangladesh Bar Council, a governing body of lawyers in the country, will be held on May 25.

In a statement signed by Bar Council Chairman and Attorney General AM Amin Uddin, today announced the schedule of the election.

According to the schedule, nomination papers will be submitted on April 6, scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on April 13 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature will be held on April 20.

According to the Gazette, if any candidate wants to object against the election, he has to apply within one month from the date of publication of the Gazette regarding the results.

For this purpose, a tribunal has been constituted to hear the objection petitions relating to the election of three members.

Led by senior Supreme Court Advocate Munsurul Haque Chowdhury, the other two members of the tribunal are Advocate Syed Haider Ali and Advocate Abdus Sabur. The election tribunal will receive the objection letters on July 14 at the Bangladesh Bar Council office here.

An Ad Hoc committee is currently in charge of the Bar Council election due to the pandemic situation. The committee will serve until June 30. The selected committee will take charge on July 1.
