Sports Desk: Dhaka, Mar-11,

Motivated Bangladesh women’s football team face strong Islamic Republic of Iran in their crucial second and ultimate group H
match of AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers scheduled to be held tomorrow (Sunday) at Birshreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city’s Kamalapur.

The match kicks off at 5 pm.

Bangladesh have no alternative way as they must have to win against Iran to advance to the next round. If that match becomes draw, Bangladesh and Iran will have equal points in head to head. In this case, Iran will play in the next round as the champions of the group by virtue of better goal difference.
Turkmenistan already crashed out of the tournament after losing their two consecutive group matches.

The Bangladesh eve team has showed impressive football against upper ranked Turkmenistan in their group opening match held on Friday last. They won the match 4-0 by dominating the whole proceeding. Thanks to forward Aklima Khatun
and midfielder Sapna Rani, who struck twice each to secure the commanding victory of Bangladesh in its first match.

Team’s coach Golam Robanni Choton and skipper Rupna Chakma must be looking forward the same performance in the Sunday’s crucial match against Iran.

Though in terms of strength, Iran is much ahead than Bangladesh in FIFA ranking. Iran is currently ranked 68th while Bangladesh is 140th. So, it will not be an easy task for Rupna Chakma and Co. to overcome the hurdle.

Bangladesh will have the biggest advantage in the Sunday’s match as the match is going to be held at their home ground and the home side will get an ample support from the crowds.

On the other hand, Iran thrashed Turkmenistan 7-1 in their group opening match and the visitors also looking forward to carry out the same performance against Bangladesh to become the group champions.
