Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan  Mahmud today said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is leading the most climate- vulnerable countries to realize their owing rights, but BNP and other  political parties of the country still lack the knowledge over climate  change.

“Promises, made by different countries, have not been fulfilled yet though  all countries reached a global agreement in tackling climate change in 2009.  For this, global warming is increasing and the 1.1 degrees Celsius  temperature of the planet has already increased, he said.

The minister made the comments while addressing the discussion titled  ‘Glasgow COP26 Conference: Preparation and Expectations of Bangladesh’  organised by Bangladesh Climate Change Journalist Forum (BCCJF) at an  auditorium of the city’s Tathya Bhaban.

Hasan said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and also Chairperson of the Climate  Vulnerable Forum (CVF) has taken various programmes so that the countries  responsible for global warming would implement their promises.     On the other hand, BNP is busy criticising the government and their ill  politics is limited within boycotting elections, said Hasan, also Awami  League joint general secretary.

BCCJF general secretary Motaher Hossain gave the welcome address with its  president Kawsar Rahman in the chair.     Mohammad Mahmudul Hasan presented the keynote paper in the programme.     Principal Information Officer Md Shahenur Mia and Department of Films and  Publications director general SM Golam Kibria were also present there.
