
CPA ex operators wife gets 5-yr jail in ACC case

A divisional special court of Chattogram today sentenced Kohinur Begum, a housewife, to five years imprisonment in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in 2009.
ACC Divisional Special Judge Munshi Abdul Mozid, also fined Tk six lakh to former Master operator of Chattogram port Jashim Uddin’s wife Kohinur Begum. In default, she will have to serve another 15 months in jail.
According to the case, housewife Kohinur Begum concealed her wealth statement of Taka 20 lakh 63 thousand 224 in her source of income while submitting a wealth statement before the ACC.
ACC Deputy Assistant Director Jalal Uddin Ahamed filed the case with Doublemooring thana on August 10, 2009. The charge sheet was submitted to the court on January 22 in 2012.
The court framed charges against Kohinur Begum on September 10, 2012.
The court pronounced the judgment after examining nine prosecution witnesses in presence of the convicted person.
