Four people to death penalty Wasim murder case in Keraniganj

The Dhaka court today sentenced four people to death and fined them Taka 10 thousand each in a case lodged over the murder of one Wasim in suburban Keraniganj in 2015.

Dhaka Additional District and Sessions Judge Faijunnesa pronounced the judgment in presence of two convicts.

The four convicts are Md Abdul Baten, Md Jahangir Alam, Md Palak Rahman, and Pappu.

Of the four, Baten and Palak are behind the bars and were present in the courtroom during the pronouncement of the judgment.

According to the case documents, the four convicts brought Wasim to a local factory in Keraniganj on April 3, 2015, and slaughtered him after tying his hands and legs.

A case was filed over that incident. Police, after probing the case, filed a charge sheet against the four. The court on January 24, 2021, framed charges against them and examined 17 out of total of 24 witnesses on different hearing dates.
