Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq today said the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wants to enact such laws which can be implemented in the society.

“If we put any unrealistic law on the shoulder of the society, it would only remain on the law books, will not come to any use to us in real. We would bring all the changes in the concerned laws, which are necessary for the welfare of the children,” he said.

The law minister said this while addressing as the chief guest at a workshop on the review of the Bangladeshi laws for the protection of the children
rights, at a city hotel this afternoon.

“The children are our future. We’ve to give them the opportunities to grow up in a healthy and a safe environment. There should be no difference between
a street children and one from the upper-class of the society in this regard.
The government is trying its utmost to eliminate the discrimination among the children. We’re also formulating a law named anti-discrimination,” Anisul
added.

The law minister called for united efforts for child protection and establishing their rights, adding: “We’ve to raise the social awareness as
well.”

Presided over by World Vision Bangladesh Director (advocacy) Tony Michael Gomes, the function was also addressed, among others, by Shamsul Huq Tuku,
Barrister Shamim Haider Patwari, Law and Justice Division Secretary Md Golam Sarwar and Rasheda K Chowdhury.
