Grocery shop-keeper Tutul becomes top human trafficker: RAB

Saiful Islam alias Tutul, who started a grocery shop at Gangni upazila of Meherpur district, has become the top human trafficker, said RAB-4 commander additional DIG Mozammel Haque.  Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) carried out a drive at three overseas companies–Tutul Overseas, Limon Overseas and Loyal Overseas– owned by Tutul in Dhaka’s Badda area from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning and arrested eight members of a human trafficking gang that traffic people to middle-east countries.

Mozammel Haque told this at a press briefing held at RAB media centre.  The elite force men also rescued four victims from the scene and seized seized 10 passports, two computers, cash Tk 10,000 and cheques of different banks and other documents.  They conducted the drive after receiving allegations from families of several victims.  Mozammel Haque said HSC passed Tutul, 38, involved himself in the gang for money.

Later, he opened three overseas companies. He took huge amount of money from the people, including women, promising them to send abroad.  The other seven arrested are: Toiyob Ali (45), aide of Tutul, Jalal Uddin Limon, 38, Maruf Hasan,37, Jahangir Alam, 38, Laltu Islam, 28, Alamin Hossain, 30, and Abdullah Al Mamun, 54.  Toiyob, who was a tea seller, introducing him as manager of reputed airlines, Jalal Uddin and Maruf were the employees of the Tutul’s overseas companies.  Jahangir, Laltu Islam, Alamin and Abdullah help the gang collecting passports, money.
