Staff Correspondent: Dhaka, Feb-01,
Deputy Minister for water resources AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem today said that it is a habit of BNP to criticize every activity of the present government as the country is moving fast under the capable leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina but BNP does not like it.
“The present government has created a new milestone by enacting a law on the formation of the Election Commission (EC). But the BNP does not like it,” he said while unveiling covers of two books at Nasrul Hamid Auditorium of Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) here.
Youth and Sports Ministry’s secretary and general secretary of the Officers Club Mejbah Uddin delivered his speech as the special guest, while Kamrul Ahsan Talukder discussed about his books in his welcome address.
Shameem, also former organizing secretary of Awami League, said that enactment of the new law for constitution of the EC will strengthen the democracy in the country.
Jhalakathi Publications organized the ceremony to launch two books written by Deputy Secretary Kamrul Ahsan Talukder titled “Evolution of field administration: Perspective Bangladesh and Water Resource Management Perspective: Bangladesh”.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Padma Bridge, the Bangabandhu Tunnel under the Karnaphuli River, four-lane road, flyover, metro rail and expressway have been constructed.” he said.
Shameem said, “With the construction of the metro rail, Dhaka will become a city of modern communication. But BNP does not like this development.”
He said that those who have destroyed economy, looted public money and opposed the country’s Liberation War in 1971 do not like these development activities.
The deputy minister said BNP does not stand beside the people during the Covid-19 pandemic, adding, “Their only job is to tarnish the country’s image globally and go to power by any means. They don’t like Bangladesh at all, they like Pakistan in their hearts.”
