Police are determined to serve people in country: IGP

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr Benazir Ahmed today said police is determined to serve the people of the country.

“We are constantly working to improve the quality of this organization,” he told a prize-giving ceremony at Rajarbagh police lines as the chief guest. Dr Benazir said the most meritorious persons are being selected centrally with maximum transparency for the promotion of the police personnel.

“We have amended the rules for appointment of constables, sub-inspectors, and sergeants after 40 years. Meanwhile, the ‘Best of the Best’ candidates have already been selected for the post of constable,” he said.

The IGP said, “We think the jobs in the police force are not mere a job rather it’s a service. That’s why our tag line this time is ‘service’, not ‘job’. We want police to serve the people of the country without any discrimination.”

He expressed his deep gratitude to the Prime Minister for inaugurating Police Week 2022. On the second day of Police Week 2022, celebrated under the theme ‘Skillful Police Prosperous Country, Bangabandhu’s Bangladesh’.

The IGP distributed prizes among various units who have successfully recovered Shield Parade, 2020 and 2021 drugs, weapons, and smuggled goods at Rajarbagh Police Lines ground.
