Showers are likely to turn the heat down in Bangladesh in the next 24 hours, the weather department said Wednesday.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions; at many places over Rajshahi, Dhaka and Chattogram divisions and at a few places over Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

The mercury today reached 35 degrees Celsius – the highest – in Tarash, Khulna, and Mongla. The minimum temperature was 23.2 degrees in Dimla.

The weather department recorded 79mm rainfall – the highest – in Dimla in the last 24 hours till 6pm Wednesday.

Day temperature may remain nearly unchanged and night temperature may fall slightly, the BMD said.
