Rape case filed against Hefazt leader Zakaria Noman

Staff Correspondent :  A rape case has been filed against Hefazat-e-Islam’s  leader Zakaria Noman Fayezi.

A woman filed the case with Hathazari police station in Chattogram at about 2:00am Friday against Fayezi,  publicity secretary of the dissolved committee of Hefazat-e-Islam.

Chattogram district superintendent of police SM Rashidul Hoque confirmed the matter.

The woman accused Noman Fayezi of raping her for over a year.

In the case, the woman alleged that Zakaria kept her at a rented house in Hathazari in November 2019 and since then he raped her several times with a promise of marriage.

He also took her to different residential hotels where violated the woman, the case statement added.

Police on Wednesday afternoon arrested Zakaria Noman Fayezi in Chakoria upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

A Chattogram court on Thursday put him on a five-day remand.
