Shopkeeper stabbed to death in capital

A shopkeeper was stabbed to death and two others were injured over a silly matter in the city’s Badda on Wednesday evening.

The victim was identified as Saiful Islam, 25, while the two injured were the victim’s brothers known as Babu, 18, and Sabu, 14.

However, police managed to arrested three people for their alleged involvement in the killing.

The incident took place at Satarkol Road before Iftar. Russel, the younger brother of the deceased, said his brother Syful Islam along with his brothers has been running a shop at Satarkol Road. ” My brothers had an altercation with Samiul, the shopkeeper of next to their shop, his brother Khairul and their father Jowel over a silly matter.

At one stage, they stabbed my three brothers Saiful Islam, Babu, and Sabu. They were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where Syful was pronounced dead, while two other brothers are being treated in the emergency department of the hospital, he said.

Saiful is the second of five brothers and two sisters. Son of Khaleq Hawladar, he hailed from, Sadar Upazila in Barisal district.

Officer-in-Charge of Badda Police Station Abul Kalam Azad told the media that the quarrel was over-dumping waste in the evening. At one stage, the victim and his two brothers were allegedly stabbed by the owners of another shop.

We have already arrested Samiul, Khairul, and their father Jowel for their alleged involvement in the killing, the OC said.
