Tamim rallies Bangladesh amid vulnerable batting show

Opener Tamim Iqbal hit a century as Bangladesh made a good start to the three-day warm-up game against Cricket West Indies (CWI) President’s XI at Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua on Friday.
Thanks to Tamim, who ended day one on 140, Bangladesh reached 274-6. Nazmul Hossain Shanto made 54 to complement Tamim on a day when other batters came up with a familiar show.
Apart from the duo, no one could contribute enough with Mominul Haque, who stepped down from the captaincy to concentrate on batting, disappointing
most. Mominul, whose lean batting streak in the Test cricket extended to a seventh straight single-digit figure, was out on naught after facing six balls.
Opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy also got a duck to make the matter worse.
Liton Das, who is leading the side in the practice game in absence of Shakib Al Hasan scored 4 while Yasir Ali retired hurt on 11. Mehidy Hasan Miraz who came back to the side after missing the Sri Lanka series was out on 7.
At stumps, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat was batting on 6 alongside Tamim Iqbal.
Jeremiah Luis was the most successful bowler for the local team with 2-44 while Jomel Warrican, Cariah, and Charles took one wicket apiece.
