Trial of Pori Moni rape and murder attempt case begins

A Dhaka court today framed charges in a case filed against the former president of Uttara Club Limited Nasir Uddin Mahmud and two others in a case filed for allegedly attempting to rape and murder actress Pori Moni.

Judge Hemayet Uddin of Dhaka Nari O Shishu Nirjatan Daman Tribunal-9 framed the charges against Nasir Uddin, Tuhin Siddiqui Omi, and Shahidul Alam.

At the same time, the court has fixed August 1 for testifying witnesses.
The accused pleaded not guilty while the charges were framed against them.
On April 19, an indictment hearing was held in presence of actress Pori Moni, the plaintiff in the case, as well as the accused.
The defendants’ lawyer applied for their release, while the plaintiff’s lawyer appealed for framing the charge to start the trial. Following the hearing of both the parties, the judge fixed May 18 for framing the charges.
Actress Pori Moni filed the case against Nasir and Omi and four other unnamed persons with Savar Model Police Station on June 14 last year.
