United Islami Party condemns attacks on Ahmadis in Panchagarh

Bangladesh United Islami Party (BUIP) has expressed deep concern and condemned the recent violent attacks on the members of the Ahmadiyya community in Panchagarh.

In a statement last night, party (BUIP) chairman Maulana Ismail Hossain, secretary general Shykhul Hadis Maulana Mufti Shahadat Hossain, presidium members Hafez Maulana Mostafa Chowdhury and Allama Shah Mohammad Omar Faruque said the Ahmadiyya community was attacked by a group of anti-Ahmadiyya community, and there were casualties during onslaughts on Friday last in Panchagarh.

Such kind of incident in a peace-loving country like Bangladesh is highly undesirable, shocking, religiously provocative and a conspiracy to create chaos in the country in the name of religion, they said.

They said Islam never approves and supports any kind of intolerance towards any religion.

The leaders urged all authorities concerned to take appropriate steps to ensure the safety and security of members of the Ahmadiyya community, it said.
