View exchange meeting on ‘Prevention of Child marriage’ held in Manikganj

A view exchange meeting on “Prevention of Child marriage and Violence against Women and Children” under the auspices of the Manikganj district Women Affairs Office was held in the conference room of Deputy Commissioner (DC) here today.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Latif presided over the function.

The function was attended, among others, by all Upazila chairmen, Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs), Imam of mosques, local journalists, NGO representatives including district level officers, and Police administration.

The speakers opined that guardians can play a vital role to avoid child marriage for the betterment of their daughters.

“Violence to the children and women is related to multilateral works which can happen in different ways,” they said adding that the mentality should be changed to build an exploitation society.

The speakers mentioned that collective efforts should be conducted against drug abuse and eve-teasing as those are the main factors to create violence in the society.
